ビギナーズ三味線

先月、アメリカはニュージャージー州に住むポールさんから、ビギナーズ三味線の注文をいただきました。その彼から、今朝、お礼のメッセージをいただきました。

“I have received the “Beginner’s” shamisen. I put that in quotes because I was quite impressed with the quality of the instrument!
I am a multi-instrumentalist and luthier myself. I contemplated making one for myself, but right now my backlog is such that I wouldn’t have been able to get to it until about three years from now, and I’m actually quite glad I went this route instead.
This is definitely quite a high-end student instrument, and has better projection than some of the older independent maker instruments that I have tried. Kudos on finding this maker for this price.” – Paul

楽器の演奏家でもあり、自身でも弦楽器の製作をされるポールさんが、このビギナーズ三味線を見て、非常にクオリティーの高い楽器だと褒めてくださいました。この値段で、このクオリティーに賛辞をいただきました。

この”kudos”という単語、見慣れなかったので、ググってみたら栄誉、称賛という意味で、ギリシャ語からなんですね。お礼のメッセージもありがたいのですが、ひとつ新しい単語を覚える切っ掛けができて朝から勉強になりました。
